Session 4: Inequalities Created By The Transformation Period: Global Co-Operation And Strategies For A Sustainable Future

The transformation period is a period of rapid change in the global economic structure, driven by the acceleration of technological advances. In this context, the concepts of an "intelligent world" and "intelligent economies" emerge as key ideas, aiming to realise economic development through technology and knowledge-based structures. This new paradigm has the potential to boost economic growth and social welfare by encouraging technology-based innovation. However, if technological progress is not experienced equally at the regional and national levels, it leads to widening wealth and welfare gaps between countries and deepening social inequalities from the past. The results of the intelligent economy era are of great consequence for the reduction of global and social inequalities and the construction of an equitable future. This session will discuss how technological progress and the process of global transformation into intelligent economies can be realised in a more egalitarian way.
